Tired of hosting duties and house guests that never seem to leave? Zaarath and Christopher Prokop found the answer with their 175-square-foot studio apartment in Manhattan. Their only furniture includes a flat screen television, wooden bench, bed and wine rack so guests never overstay their welcome. They were also able to pay off their mortgage in only two years. Does that outweigh living without a garbage can and walking every piece of trash to a chute in the hallway? I’m not too sure…

And is this the smallest apartment in New York City? Absolutely not. Check out this 55-square-foot “apartment”!

Information varies about Mukesh Ambani. As “the fifth richest man in the world” and head of the Mumbai based petrochemical giant Reliance Industries he is estimated to be worth somewhere in the region of $43 billion. He is also the owner to-be of a 27-story skyscraper in downtown Mumbai that apparently cost him a colossal $2 billion to build.

It contains a health club with a gym and dance studio, at least one studio, a ballroom, guestrooms and a range of lounges and a 50 seater cinema. There is even an elevated garden with ceiling space to accommodate small trees. The roof has three helicopter pads and there is also underground parking for 160 cars, which will come in handy for guests at Ambani’s forthcoming housewarming party.

From the top floors of the 173m high property are spectacular views of Mumbai and of the Arabian Sea. In total there is reported to be 37,000 square metres of space, which is more than the Palace of Versailles. To keep it running smoothly requires 600 staff.

The glass, steel and tiles used to make the building are reported to be from local sources. Ambani does not appear to be influenced by calls by the Indian prime minister, Manmohan Singh, for business leaders to be “role models of moderation”.

The apartment is a loft attached to Snarkitecture, the firm Arsham works at and while it’s only allows for sleeping and dressing it’s still cool
