Google Docs Allows New File Sharing Method

Stephen M. FellsGoogle Docs allows you to create and share documents online versus local or network based file storage and I love it! With staff on both coasts we’ve been using the service since last year to share spreadsheets, word processor documents and PDF’s.

Benefits include:

1. No longer having to email files between staff
2. Access files from anywhere you have Internet connectivity
3. The files are secure
4. There is no need to backup files
5. You can see the files in real time
6. The files can be simultaneously viewed by more than one person

There was always one issue however: the files were converted to the Google Docs format. This was never a huge issue but Google have solved it anyway. You can now upload any format file and use Google Docs as a central storage solution.

Simply click on the ‘Upload’ button:

Google Docs Upload 1

or the ‘New! Upload any file’ link:

Google Docs Upload 2

and you can use Google docs to store your files online making them accessible anywhere you have Internet access. This removes the need for a USB storage key and is a free and convenient solution.
